2007
Objective To study the clinical effectiveness and safety of transvaginal ovarian tumor resection of benign ovarian tumor. Methods A total of 68 women, with single benign ovarian tumor and pelvic pain or secondary infertility, underwent transvaginal ovarian tumor resection. The feasibility of the procedure, operative complications, postoperative recovery, and the time of hospitalization were reviewed. Results All the operations were completed successfully. The mean operating time was (39±11) min and average blood loss (60±10)ml. The mean size of the tumor was 7.3cm (range 4~12 cm). No injury of bladder and rectum occurred. Conclusions Transvaginal ovarian tumor resection is feasible and safe for selected patients, who desire to preserve the ability to conceive. A benign ovarian tumor ≤10 cm in diameter and being reachable via colpotomy is suitable for the surgical approach.
