Simulation and Experiment on Tangential Type Turbine Flow Sensor for Measurement of Low Flow Rate

In order to study the operating principle of tangential type turbine flow sensor,the rotor driving torque was deduced and the meter factor was given.Based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD) and turbulence model,a method of the rotor-torque-balance in direction Z,which can predict the rotational speed of rotor precisely,was presented.The 3D flow field of tangential type turbine flow sensor was analyzed and the formula of numerical meter factor was obtained.Comparison between simulation results and the data of physical experiment showed that the simulation model of tangential type turbine flow sensor was acceptable.The maximum full-scale relative error of meter factor was 7.51%.
