METHODOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS IN EXPLORING CHILDREN’S PERSPECTIVES IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

2019
The purpose of this paper is to share methodological lessons learned from a qualitative  study exploring children’s perceptions in Physical Education (PE). Methods: Reflections and  discussions were conducted over a variety of techniques in data collection, interpretation,  analysis and trustworthiness. Findings: The use of individual and group interviews,  drawing, written questionnaire and initial orientation, working together and individually,  in addition to the use of a theoretical framework and data analysis approach were  advantageous. Triangulation of data with a peer-debriefer and research journal increased data  trustworthiness. Conclusions: The use of a variety of techniques can benefit the research  process and assist in listening to what children have to say about their experiences in PE.
