Objective: To discuss all types of dental trauma, describing their diagnoses and treatment. Bibliographic review: Dental trauma is a dental emergency that the treatment is often multidisciplinary, being a public health problem due to its high prevalence. It can happen in any age, more prevalent in male children. There is more than one type of injury, so, a complete anamnesis with complementary exams are essential to obtain an adequate diagnosis, and with this, carry out the correct treatment in order to obtain a satisfactory prognosis. It can be classified in different ways due to its clinical characteristics, which can vary from broken enamel to dislocations. To choose the correct treatment for each case is important and these can range from restorations with composite resins, retainers, endodontic treatment and even dental replantation, always evaluating possible sequelae in relation to each individual case. Conclusion: Traumatic dental injuries represents a worldwide challenge, being fundamental the quality of urgent treatment, the patient's home care and adequate monitoring, ensuring favorable prognosis, limiting the appearance of pulp and periradicular changes that, if diagnosed and treated right on time, prevent the loss of the dental element.
