La 'Sauna' de Maca: Saunas y baños iniciáticos en el mundo céltico

1993
The "Fragua" is a rock structure placed in the oppidum of Ulaca (Avila, Spain) that can be considered in relation with the "Pedras Formosas" of the North Portugal and Galician "Cultura Castrena". This paper is concerned with the function and meaning of this kind of monuments. By studying their features, parallels and spatial distribution, we propose they were used like iniciatic ritual saunas related with warriors communities of Proto-celtic societies from Late Bronze Age tradition that lasted until Roman times.
