Effect of chlorine on expression of aquaporin-4 in organs of rat.

To investigate the effect of chlorine on expression of aquaporin-4 in organs(heart,liver,spleen,lung,kidney and brain)of KunMing mouse.Forty 30-day-old Kunming mice were randomly divided into experimental and control groups.Then pulmonary edema model was caused by inspiring toxic chlorine gas and the diseased mice were autop-syed to observe the lesions of organs.Using immunohistochemical method to detect the expression of aquaporin 4 of the organs in the experimental and control groups and HE staining of the organs to check the pathological changes. The results showed that in experimental group,the clinical symptoms of pulmonary edema occurred and aquaporin-4 expression in the organs(except liver)was significantly higher than the control(P0.01),HE staining displayed typical pulmonary edema lesions.In a word,as a result of chlorine gas poisoning in mice,the aquaporin-4 expression increased in various organs,which may be related to the water transporting function of AQP-4.
