Numerical Evaluation of the Relative Value of Dielectric Anisotropy and Order Parameter in Fluorinated Nematic Liquid Crystals.
2001
A numerical evaluation of physical constants in the fluorinated liquid crystals has been investigated. The molecular parameters, such as dipole moment and polarizability, were calculated using a semiempirical molecular orbital method. In order to evaluate the temperature dependence of the value "dielectric anisotropy divided by order parameter (Δe/S)", the Maier-Meier theory was used. The temperature dependence of Δe/S in these phenylbicyclohexane compounds has been explained.
