Experimental Study of the Interaction Between Aortic Grafts and the Intestine: Dacron vs PTFE

1987
The interaction of vascular prostheses (Dacron and PTFE) and the intestine has been investigated in the beagle dog. The experimental conditions implied grafting of the abdominal aorta and apposition of the intestine onto the graft. The maximum follow-up was 150 days.Dacron manifested a constant trend toward penetration into the intestinal wall; PTFE remained almost unadherent to the intestine.
