Bis[bis(ethylenediamine‐N,N')(μN,S‐thiocyanato)nickel(II)] Bis(hexafluorophosphate)

The title compound, [Ni 2 (NCS) 2 (C 2 H 8 N 2 ) 4 ](PF 6 ) 2 or [Ni(en) 2 (μ N,S -NCS)] 2 [PF 6 ]: (en = ethylenediamine), has been synthesized via a molecular rearrangement reaction of trans-Ni(en) 2 (NCS) 2 . It consists of dibridged [Ni(en) 2 (μ N,S -NCS)] 2 cations with the NCS ligands forming a cis arrangement at the nickel centres. A three-dimensional intermolecular hydrogen-bonding network is observed between the amine protons of the en ligands and the F atoms of the PF 6 - anions.
