Purpose: Acute pancreatitis (AP) has become an increasingly common diagnosis in children over the last two decades with an incidence reaching as high as 13 per 100,000 children per year. The mainstay of management is bowel rest with significant fluid support to mitigate the effect of inflammatory cytokines on the pancreas and other organs.
