In situ hybridization of adenovirus RNA and DNA. II. Detection of adenovirus‐specific DNA in transformed and tumour cells

The method of in situ molecular hybridization has been used to detect adenovirus DNA in permissively and non-permissively infected cells. Onset of viral DNA synthesis can be detected by this method in individual cells by 12 h after infection. Viral nucleic acid hybrids have been detected at the cytological level in adenovirus-transformed and tumour cells.
