Baikal International Centre for Ecological Research: Principles of Organization and First Scientific Results

Baikal International Centre for Ecological Research (BICER) founded in 1992 by Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Royal Belgian Institute for Natural Sciences, Royal Society of London, Japanese Association for Baikal International Research Programs, University of South Carolina, has given a significant contribution to successful development of cooperation between scientists of Russia, and of NATO nations. In 1993, foreign scientists spent 2700 man-days in international expeditions on Lake Baikal. The results obtained have been published in best international scientific journals.
