Associations of protein tyrosine phosphatase nonreceptor 22 (PTPN22) gene polymorphisms with RA in the Han population of Guangzhou in China.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the polymorphism site(R620W) of gene protein tyrosine phosphatase nonreceptor 22(PTPN22) and the rheumatoid arthritis(RA) in Han population in Guangzhou city of China.Methods One hundred forty-eight patients with RA and 150 healthy people were investigated.PTPN22 gene polymorphism +1858C T polymorphism was detected by polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).Results The 1858 T allele was presented in none of the samples and only C allele was detected.Conclusion PTPN22 polymorphism(R620W) not associated with RA in the Chinese population from Guangzhou city of China.Further studies should be done to confirm this observation.
