Oxovanadium(V) Complexes with β-Hydroxyketoximes

Abstract Complexes of oxovanadium(V) with 2-hydroxy-acetophenone oxime (L1H) and 2-hydroxy-benzophenone oxime (L2H) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, magnetochemical, IR and visible-UV spectral methods. The complexes have formulae (L1 or L2) [VO(X)2L] and [VO(X)L2], (X=C1, OH, or -OCH3) with 5- and 6- coordinate V, respectively. The hydrogen atom of the phenolic group of the oxime is replaced by vanadium, with the nitrogen atom of oxime group also coordinating.
