Immunological approaches to control maturation in fish. 1. Cytotoxic reactions against germ cells using monoclonal antibodies.
1986
Abstract Monoclonal antibodies were used to kill carp and trout spermatozoa and isolated precursor germ cells in vitro using complement-mediated cytotoxicity. In addition, their ability to ‘home’ to designated target cells was investigated in vivo following intravascular injection. The potential application of monoclonal antibodies to effect in vivo destruction of germ cells is discussed.
