Assessing with MMPI for posttranmatic stress disorders in the survivors after mining accident CHEN

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of the MMPI and understand the personality characteristics of posttraumatie stress disorders(PTSD) in the survivors after mining accident. Methods Mea-surements were conducted with the MMPI in 48 survivors of the 7.29 mining accident. Results Survivors with PTSD obtained a significantly higher F,Hs,Pa,Pt,Sc in MMPI (67.27±17.81,61.13±13.35,65.27±12.61, 62.47±11.78,62.40±15.08, respectively ) than whom without PTSD (50.67±7.19,50.89±12.77,51.56± 7.38,51.33±10.09,50.89±7.03, respectively) (P<0.05). There was still a significant difference between sur-vivors with and without PTSD after the 7.29 mining accident has past one year. Conclusion The survivors with and without PTSD after mining accident have series mental health problems,but their personality characteristics is different. MMPI can provided important auxiliary diagnosis value for PTSD. Key words: Mining accident survivor; PTSD; Mental health; MMP1
