Fondos y colecciones fotográficas de titularidad pública en Aragón

2012
Among all the Aragonese public institutions that preserve photographic fonds and collections we have selected those of a higher research interest. This public institutions can be gathered in two sections: archives and museums. We make a review on the sets of photographs that are contained in both archives and museums. We analyse their antiquity, their volume, the photographic genre that is preserved, and the interest that their fonds and collections may generate. Among the different archives, the ones that stand out are the following: Archivos Historicos Provinciales of Zaragoza and Teruel, Fototeca de la Diputacion de Huesca, Confederacion Hidrografica del Ebro and Archivo del Baron de Valdeolivos. Also, it is to mention that museums mainly preserve contemporary artistic photographic collections. It also briefly describes other institutions holding photographic sets, like local study centers (especially the Instituto de Estudios Turolenses), the regional Parliament (Cortes de Aragon) and some teaching centers. Finally, it assesses the interest of all these sets for the history of photography in Aragon.
