Workshop Report on Liquids

The center of gravity of interaction-induced spectroscopic studies in liquids has shifted over the last decade. Investigations in relatively complex molecular liquids have supplanted studies in monatomic liquids as the principal focus. The measured spectra in these systems are influenced by a variety of interactions and molecular motions that are absent in simple liquids. Perhaps the dominant theme of the liquid state research presented at this workshop was the attempt to understand how coupled molecular translations, rotations and vibrations are manifest in the spectra.
