The graphic branch of industry is worldwide under high pressure to increase the efficiency of production while the piece numbers produced are decreasing. That is why the market demands in-line machines which are flexible to use and equipped with quickly made ready systems. In the design process of such machines we can see three fundamental ways: - replace highly sophisticated Mechanisms by simple electronically controlled Mechanics (Mechatronics) - use modern electronically controlled drive and guidance systems - shaftless technology, also called electronic force drive realized by central control of peripherally working mechatronical systems, makes possible a lot of different kinds of operations The article describes by the example of the developing of a three-knife trimmer how by consequent using the mentioned principles a machine was developed which has stand-alone features in the market.
