Nitrates Combined and Compared with Other Drugs in Congestive Heart Failure

1990
In patients with congestive heart failure the efficacy of nitrates may be enhanced by combination with other drugs. Nitrates are mainly venodilators. Therefore it is possible that combination with potent arteriolar dilators and/or positive inotropic agents may widen the therapeutic spectrum and, in particular, achieve a greater increase in cardiac output than that produced by nitrates alone.
