Fluorocopolymer and coating compositions

A fluorocopolymer comprising (a) structural units derived from tetrafluoroethylene, (b) structural units derived from a nonaromatic vinyl ester monomer free from hydroxyl group and carboxyl group, (c) structural units derived from a hydroxyl-containing vinyl monomer free from aromatic groups and carboxyl group, and, if necessary, (d) structural units derived from a monomer having an aromatic group and being free from hydroxyl group and carboxyl group, (e) structural units derived from a carboxyl-containing monomer free from hydroxyl group and aromatic groups, and (f) structural units derived from other monomer in amounts of 20 to 49 mole %, 25 to 69.9 mole %, 8 to 30 mole %, 2 to 15 mole %, 0.1 to 2.0 mole %, and 0 to 10 mole % respectively; and coating compositions containing the fluorocopolymer. The fluorocopolymer is a curable one which is well compatible with other components of the coating compositions and can give coating films excellent in weather resistance, hardness and stain resistance.
