Experimental study on the treatment of butyl xanthate from beneficiation wastewater by sodium hypochlorite

2011
Butyl xanthate existing beneficiation wastewater has certain toxicity, which has significant impact to the environment if discharged directly without treatment. Beneficiation wastewater containing Butyl xanthate was treated by the strong oxidation of sodium hypochlorite. The influences of initial pH, reaction time and sodium hypochlorite dosage on the removal rate of Butyl xanthate and COD Cr were investigated. The results showed that when the initial pH was 4, reaction time 50 min, the sodium hypochlorite 120 mg/L, the removal rate of Butyl xanthate and COD Cr reached 99.05% and 77.14% respectively.
