Observation of proton alignment at the backbend in 136Nd

Abstract Lifetimes by the recoil-distance technique and g -factors by the IMPAC method have been measured for the 12 + and 10 + states above the backbend in 136 Nd. The sign and magnitude of the g -factors show the backbending results from h 11 2 proton (2qp) alignment.
