Comparison of CRIB Scores to Charges and to Resource Allocation (CCT Score) for Benchmarking Level III NICUs : 672

1996
In order to determine the extent to which severity of illness impacts on resource utilization and charges generated, 195 consecutive admissions to a level III NICU were studied. Three measures were collected: 1) CRIB Score - a measurement of physiological parameters by 12 hours of age considered as an index of severity of illness, 2) a Clinical Classification Tool (CCT) which allows for nursing and allied health personnel to assess the resource utilization requirements of individual patients, 3) total and respiratory charges.
