Field galaxies and their AGNs: Nature versus nurture

SUMMARY: This review attempts to present most recent flndings related to the very controversial question of which processes guide the ∞ow of gas to the galactic centers where the accretion and growth of supermassive black holes occurs. Also, we put this question in the context of in∞uence of the environment (galaxy clusters versus fleld) onto these processes.
