Search for charmed pentaquarks in high energy anti-neutrino interactions

2007
Abstract The existence of a bound state of five quarks with c ¯ content is still controversial. In this paper we focus on weakly decaying charmed pentaquarks and show how they can be searched for in high energy anti-neutrino interactions. By analyzing 2262 charged-current interactions with a muon of positive charge in the CHORUS detector, we performed a search for Θ c 0 production. Based on the null observation, the limit of Θ c 0 production is found as a function of different Θ c 0 lifetimes. The tightest bound is σ Θ c 0 / σ ν ¯ 0.039 at 90% C.L. for Θ c 0 lifetime equal to 0.5 τ D 0 . We outline also the excellent potentiality of such a search at a neutrino factory with an emulsion detector.
