EFFECT OF A STRUCTURE ON OCCUPANTS IN A BICYCLE WITH A RIDER AND TWO INFANT SEATS

2015
This paper describes the effects of vibration on a bicycle-rider-two-infant system, when the weight of the infants and the seat positions are changed. To examine the vibrations experienced by the rider and two infants, a vibration model of the bicycle-rider-two-infant system was developed, and sine waveforms of frequency 1–20 Hz were used as input signals to the wheels. A numerical analysis was performed, and the RMS (root mean square) and P (peak) values of the transient response were calculated to evaluate the vibrations on the infants and the rider. From these results, the effect of infant weights and seat positions on the vibration characteristics of the infants and the rider were analyzed, and it was shown that this numerical model can be an effective tool for designing bicycles for a rider and two infants.
