Determination of ferulic acid in Angelica sinensis produced in different places

2013
Objective:To determine the content of ferulic acid in Angelica sinensis produced in different places and to investigate the effect of place of origin on the quality of Angelica sinensis.Methods:High-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) was used to determine the content of ferulic acid in Angelica sinensis produced in different places.HPLC was performed on Agilent Extend C18 column(4.6mm × 250mm,5μm) with a mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.085% phosphoric acid solution(V/V 17∶ 83) at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min,a column temperature of 35℃,and a detection wavelength of 316 nm.Results:Ferulic acid showed a good linear relationship between concentration and peak area in the range of 24.260-242.600 ng(r = 0.99996).The average recovery rate was 98.61%,and the relative standard deviation was 1.74%.Conclusion:Angelica sinensis produced in different places shows differences in ferulic acid content.Angelica sinensis produced in Min County,Gansu Province,China has the highest ferulic acid content. This experiment provides a scientific basis for the quality evaluation of Angelica sinensis.
