An X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study of the surface properties of ZrO2 as a support for palladium catalyst of CO oxidation

2002
The qualitative and quantitative compositions of the surfaces of ZrO 2 (monoclinic and cubic) supports and ZrO 2 palladium-coated catalysts were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was shown that oxygen at thesurface of the samples exists in three forms: lattice, adsorbed, and hydroxyl oxygen. The activity of ZrO 2 palladium-coated catalysts depends on the electronic state and amount of palladium.
