Medicine for reducing injury of tissue accompanied by non-heart ischemia

1997
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine useful for reducing injury directly produced in a tissue of drain, etc., sensitive to injury of ischemia/reperfusion as a result of non-heart ischemia in mammal including human. SOLUTION: This medicine is an aldose reductase having an amount effective for reducing the above symptom, e.g. a medicine comprising 3,4-dihydro-4- oxo-3-{[5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-benzothiazolyl]methy}-1-phthalazineacetic acid. Furthermore, the daily effective amount of the medicine is about 0.1 to about 100mg/kg, preferably about 0.1 to about 20mg/kg. Since the compound is capable of increasing metabolism due to aldose reductase in a state of diabetes mellitus, the compound is especially suitable for treating patients of diabetes mellitus.
