High energy coherently combined femtosecond fiber CPA system

In this contribution, we report on the approach of coherently combined spatially separated amplifiers to increase the output power and pulse energy compared to a single amplifier emission. For continuous-wave and Q-switched laser systems this is a widely known concept [1–3]. Recently, the concept of coherent combining was adapted to femtosecond CPA systems in a low power proof of principle experiment [4]. Compared to the CW and Q-switched case, additional aspects have to be considered when combining femtosecond pulses, like dispersion management and nonlinear effects.
