Use of an enzyme immunoassay for the measurement of caprine serum LH

1998
Abstract The use of a `capture' separation-required enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for the measurement of caprine serum LH is discussed and compared with RIA measurements using the same monoclonal antibody. Very high agreement ( r =0.95) was observed between the two assays. The polyclonal `capture' antibody used in the EIA was raised against the beta chain of bovine LH and, when used with the monoclonal antibody, performed nearly identically in the measurement of bovine, ovine and caprine LH. The results obtained in this study suggest the possibility of homology with respect to the structure of bovine, ovine and caprine LH molecules. The assay described herein has all the recognized advantages of EIA over RIA while also eliminating the necessity for dilution of samples containing high LH values.
