Recomendaciones para el fortalecimiento de las tutorías en el Centro de Escritura Javeriano de Bogotá

This research intended to identify key aspects that allow the betterment of the writing tutories at Centro de Escritura Javeriano (CEJ) Pontificia Universidad Javeriana s Writing Center as well as to promote Academic Writing in this University. To do so, Writing needs, motivations, and practices of the students who attend the tutories were identified, so as their teachers Writing and Reading assignments and whether they promote these abilities in their classes. Results confirm what other studies have concluded: Reading and Writing are developed in universities as a mere grading tool. Also, neither teachers nor students are aware that these abilities ought to be improved by practice. Specifically for this Writing Center, some key aspects were pointed out in order to better the writing tutories and to promote effective practices that will ultimately develop a culture of epistemic Writing and Reading in the University.
