Rotor Stress Analysis of a High-Speed Permanent Magnet Machine Considering Multi-Layer and Multi-Angle Winding of Carbon Fiber Sleeve

2021
For the design of high-speed permanent magnet (PM) machines (HSPMMs), the first consideration is whether the rotor can meet the stress requirements. In this paper, considering multi-layer and multi-angle winding of carbon fiber sleeve (CFS), the stress of a bread-type rotor of an HSPMM with 80 kW, 60000 rpm is studied in detail. First, the optimization analysis of the rotor stress is carried out to determine the PM material, rotor diameter, CFS thickness, and interference between the CFS and the PM. Then, the temperature field calculation of the HSPMM is performed to analyze the rotor thermal stress more precisely. Finally, the detailed stress analysis of the rotor with multi-layer and multi-angle winding CFS is carried out based on the thermal-stress coupling, and the PM rotors suitable for mass and prototype production are designed respectively.
