Analysis of second order statistics of the SIR in cellular mobile networks

1999
In this paper the second order statistics of the signal to interference ratio (SIR) are analyzed for a cellular mobile network in the presence of log-normal shadowing and co-channel interferers. The autocovariance function of the SIR is derived in closed form, by extending the Wilkinson's method that has been previously used only for the derivation of the first and the second moments of the sum of log-normal random variables. Outage occurrence rate and duration are taken as performance measures and the relevant system parameters are varied in order to analyze their effects on system performance,.
