Changes in elemental composition of poplar leaves with increasing soil salination

1995
The saline soils and chemical composition of poplar leaves (Populus pruinosa Shrenk.) on degrading floodplain soils have been studied simultaneously. The scale of changes in chemical-elements concentrations in leaves and tolerance limits for the community edificator were determined. High sensitivity of microelements, accompanied by the breakdown of their concentration ratios, to changes in soil salinity was determined, so that the latter may be advised to be used as an indicator of stands status.
