Classification of Skeletal Muscle Diseases

The most difficult aspect in myopathology is to provide a comprehensive classification of skeletal muscle diseases. Various classification systems exist, but none is superior to the other. Briefly, the classifications can be broadly grouped into clinical, pathological, clinicopathological, and etiological systems. We will follow the clinicopathological classification system so as to have a clear understanding of the disease entities.
