Decoding of DS-CDMA by code/user separation and subsequent equalisation

1997
In DS-CDMA different users are provided with different codes or signature sequences c/sub i/. The symbols d that have to be transmitted, are spread with these codes thus multiplying the used bandwidth. The resulting signal of all users is transmitted over the mobile channel. This kind of modulation is not considered. The received signal must be despread and equalised in order to detect the transmitted information. The investigated scenario is the uplink of a mobile network with different users transmitting their data over different channels. The article provides a method to detect coded and distorted data by first separating the users and then equalizing the separated signals in a succeeding step in order to reduce the complexity of the circuitry.
