Effect of Extracts from Three Different Species of Anoectochilus on Blood Lipid and Renal Function in Diabetic Rats Induced by High Lipid Diet Plus STZ

Objective To investigate the effect of total extracts from three different species of Anoectiochilus on blood lipid and renal function in diabetic rats induced by high lipid diet plus streptozocin(STZ).Methods The total extracts were prepared from A.lanceolatus,A.moulmeinensis and A.elweslii,respectively.The rat models were established by high lipid diet plus STZ,and the model rats were given gastric gavage of three kinds of total extracts.Plsama levels of total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),creatinine(CRE),blood usea nitrogen(BUN) in rats were assayed.Renal morphological examination was performed.Results On the whole,the total extracts from A.moulmeinensis showed the best effect on improving lipid metabolism and renal function,the differences being significant compared with the model group(P0.05).Conclusion The total extract from A.moulmeinensis may be the active part for reducing blood lipid and improving renal function.
