Comparison Between one and Multiple Stages Surgery in the Treatment of Hirschsprung's' Disease

Results: One stage group: (13 patients): there were only two cases with other associated congenital anomalies (non declined gonad, and Down syndrome). Average age in a one stage group was 38 months (3.17 year by spectrum of 23 days to 12 year old). Overhaul & daily stimulation was done by rectal kit, antibiotic prophylaxis was given, and mechanical colonic preparation by enema was done. Swenson operation was done in one case, Duhamel in 3 case & Sweah (by modification of coron) in 9 cases. After 5 days of operation, antibiotics were cut, and oral intake was started. Multi stage group: (22 patients) with overage age of 50 months was underwent multi stage surgery. Colostomy was done before the main operation. Preparation for surgery was done as a one stage operation. Closing colostomy was done 4-8 weeks after the last phase of surgery. One of the patients of this group had total aganglionosis which had borne surgery of total colectomy, Ileostomy & Ileoanal anastomosis.
