Research on the Relationship Between College Students' Self-confidence and Their Parental Rearing Patterns

The current status of college students' parental rearing patterns and their self-confidence was investigated by applying the parental rearing patterns questionnaire(EMBU) and the personal evaluation questionnaire(PEI).The relationship between them was statistically analyzed.The results showed the total score of college students' self-confidence had a significant positive correlation with parents' warm emotions and understanding,father's refusal and mother's refusal;and had a significant negative correlation with parents' preference to the subjects.This suggested that the positive parental rearing patterns were favourable to the cultivation of their self-confidence,such as warm emotions and understanding.However,the negative ones were disadvantageous,such as excess preference and severe punishments.
