TB management in India: critical issues.

This paper raises some critical issues in TB Management in India. It is hoped that the policy makers programme planners professional researchers and administrators would attempt to answer these questions for effective results. India contributes 1/3 of the global burden of TB Diseases (globally six million). About 22 lakh new cases every year. 1.2 million TB cases are detected every year. TB kills more people in India than HIV STD Malaria Leprosy and other tropical diseases. What is the political commitment and related infrastructure resource support to reduce the disease burden? TB is said to be a disease caused by poverty crowded living conditions and absence of native resistance. What are the behavioural factors leading to low resistance? (excerpt)
