Quantitative IHP Determination by 31P - NMR: Proposal for a Standardized Protocol

Various procedures have been reported for the incorporation of inositol hexaphosphate (IHP) in human red cells, but relatively few data are available on the actual intracellular IHP concentration after the loading treatment. These data are essential for the interpretation of the eventual biochemical and physiological modifications that occur in IHP loaded RBCs during storage and for the monitoring of the intracellular phosphorilated compounds and their eventual metabolic conversions.
