The Evolutionary Research of Modular Master Structure Oriented to Product-service Systems

Abstract Nowadays, the ever increasing and variable personalized requirements make the speed of product evolution accelerate constantly. Meanwhile, the direction of product evolution is more and more extensive. So it is particularly important to predict the direction of product evolution and control the process of product evolution. For this reason, most factories begin to implement the modular product platform strategy and establish product-service systems (PSS) based on the modular master structure (MMS) of product. The MMS contains almost all the information of products and modules, and the completeness of MMS relates to the quality of PSS. So the research of MMS evolution is important. Therefore, a three-dimension evolutionary modeling framework of MMS is proposed, which point out the evolution of MMS in the whole life cycle dimension, time dimension and product configuration dimensions. The evolution behavior of MMS has been illustrated from evolution prediction to the generation of stage master structure. So the individualized product is configured. It is significative for the determination of the research direction of product evolution. It lays a foundation for the subsequent research on the evolution control method of MMS in the three dimensions. And it is significative for the management and application of enterprise resources. Finally, the application of evolution control oriented to the PSS is described so that the PSS for staffs and customers can be constructed.
