Calidad de vida y migraciones en una ciudad intermedia argentina (Neuquén, 2001)

espanolEl presente trabajo se inscribe en lo que algunos autores han dado en llamar el “giro espacial”. En concreto, pretende analizar la relacion entre calidad de vida y procesos migratorios en la ciudad de Neuquen hacia comienzos del siglo XXI. En terminos metodologicos, se utiliza informacion brindada por el Censo Nacional de Poblacion y Vivienda de 2001 y cartografias tematicas elaboradas con Sistemas de Informacion Geografica. Se propone un recorrido que presenta cinco momentos claramente definidos. En primer termino, se brinda una aproximacion al concepto de calidad de vida, sondeando posibles formas de volverlo operativo en aglomeraciones de tamano intermedio. En segunda instancia, se explora el contexto en el que se produjeron significativas brechas en materia de bienestar. En tercer lugar, se examina la distribucion espacial de la calidad de vida, distinguiendo aquellos principios que estructuraban el paisaje urbano neuquino. La cuarta seccion del trabajo escruta la localizacion de los habitantes de la ciudad en funcion de su condicion migratoria. Por ultimo, con el proposito de dotar al estudio de una mirada multidimensional, se observa la forma en que se correlacionaron la calidad de vida y la condicion migratoria en el proceso de diferenciacion espacial. EnglishThis work is part of what some authors have called the “spatial turn”. Specifically, it aims to analyze the relationship between quality of life and migration processes in the city of Neuquen towards the beginning of the 21st century. In methodological terms, information provided by the 2001 National Population and Housing Census and thematic cartographies elaborated with Geographic Information Systems are used. A journey that presents five clearly defined moments is proposed. In the first place, an approximation to the concept of quality of life is provided, probing possible ways to make it operational in agglomerations of intermediate size. In second instance, the context in which they produced significant gaps in welfare is explored. Third, the spatial distribution of quality of life is examined, distinguishing those principles that structured the urban landscape of Neuquen. The fourth section of the work scrutinizes the location of the inhabitants of the city according to their migratory status. Finally, with the purpose of giving the study a multidimensional look, we observe the way in which quality of life and migratory condition were correlated in the process of spatial differentiation.
