Production of paper for newspaper

PURPOSE:To obtain the newspaper paper improved in the surface strength and in the sizing degree by spraying a surface-treating agent on a wet paper web in the pressing part of a paper machine. CONSTITUTION:A surface-treating agent comprising the aqueous solution, emulsion or slurry of a natural or synthetic polymer is sprayed on a wet paper web with an one liquid spray or a gas-liquid two liquid spray in the pressing part of a twin-wiring type paper machine. The sprayed web is subsequently subjected to a pressing treatment to properly impregnate the wet paper web with the surface-treating agent.
