The application of aerosol mass spectrometers in the investigations on the environmental micro-interfacial processes of organic aerosols

The heterogeneous and multiphase reactions of aerosols are complicated micro-interfacial processes,which involve the absorption,diffusion,reaction and desorption of gases through the micro-interfaces of particles.The traditional analytical instruments can not afford complete real-time chemical reaction information of the processes.Aerosol mass spectrometers are newly developed instruments for real-time chemical composition analysis of aerosol particles,which overcome the disadvantages of the traditional analytical instruments such as GC/MS in the real-time analysis and offer a new method for the investigation on micro-interfacial processes of organic aerosols.The goal of this paper is to introduce the aerosol mass spectrometers and their applications in the investigation on micro-interfacial processes of aerosols.
