Natureza Barata e Desigualdade Hidrossocial no Capitaloceno

The advent of the Anthropocene has fostered countless quarrels between currents of thought about the causes and consequences of this new era for the planet and for humanity, in the face of the imminent depletion of natural resources. In this article, from the perspective of the Capitalocene, we read the inequality in access to water from the physical, discursive and political appropriation of this “resource” by capital. From a bibliographic and essayistic study, we explored the epistemological and material connections between Cheap Nature and the hydrosocial cycle in capitalism to propose the concept of hydrosocial inequality: the uneven appropriation and distribution of water and cost externalities by organizations. We conclude that state / private regulation and the increasing submission of the hydrosocial cycle to market logic in neoliberalism tend to exacerbate the modalities of inequality, injustices, conflicts, violence and threats of a major crisis.
