To excise or not to excise infected urachal cysts: A case report and review of the literature

2017
Abstract Urachal anomalies, and urachal cysts in particular, are common congenital anomalies that can remain asymptomatic throughout a lifetime or rarely cause life threatening illness if infected. We present a case of a complicated infected urachal cyst and review the literature on its work up and management, including the controversial issue of whether surgical management is always necessary for definitive treatment of this entity.
