Water-base emulsion and easily maceratable moistureproof paper

1992
PURPOSE: To prepare a water-base emulsion by compounding a specific ethylene- vinyl chloride copolymer, a rosin ester emulsion, and a wax emulsion in a specified ratio and to produce a moistureproof paper which is easily maceratable and excellent in moistureproofness and water repellency by using the watrer-base emulsion. CONSTITUTION: A water-base emulsion is prepd. by compounding 100 wt.% ethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer comprising 3-40wt.% ethylene units, 25-90wt.% vinyl chloride units, and 0-73wt.% vinyl acetate units and having a glass transition point of -15 to 35°C, 50-95 pts.wt. (solid content) emulsion of a rosin ester having a softening point of 110-150°C and a Gardner coloration degree of 5 or lower, and 5-10 pts.wt. (solid content) emulsion of a wax having an m.p of 50-110°C. A moistureproof paper is produced by coating a substrate paper with the water-base emulsion in an amt. of 5-10g/m 2 (solid content).
